The Black Imaginarium

Creating space where artists can gather to reify ideas, stories, and expressions of Black imagination.

A Home for Black Artists

Welcome!

The Black Light Arts Collective is a group of Black and POC artists that intend to showcase and organize community events that center and serve creatives of the queer and straight Black diaspora. We use art as a catalyst to contemplate our realities by offering community outreach, artistic opportunity for incarcerated individuals, creative opportunities for families, readings, festivals, workshops, art expression, and outreach in youth settings. We exist to serve as a space where artists gather to share ideas, tell our stories, and our expressions of Black imagination. We reject stories and energy that cause harm to marginalized peoples of the Black diaspora.

We are so excited to use our award to continue to host free workshops, provide free resources, and to help fund future events. Thank you to Sundance for believing in our mission to uplift Black and POC artists, and thank you to our community for your continued support. We can’t wait to share all we have in store.
